NEW / PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS

2020/2021 Season

We are now pleased to start the player registration process for the 2020/21 Minis, Juniors and Colts season at Barnes! New players are very welcome at all ages.

Training will start on the weekend on 5/6 September, for those parents, players and coaches who want to. It will be different this, year, as we adapt to manage Covid risks and to follow the latest RFU guidelines for the return to rugby, but we are determined to offer the best rugby we can while emphasising health and safety of players, parents and coaches. We will follow the RFU Road Map for a return to rugby – as further explained on our News page – consistent with Government guidelines and with a number of significant changes.

We will send out more detailed guidance for each section or squad before the restart, using the Teamsnap app and also please keep an eye on the news section of this webiste, and will of course monitor the need for further changes. Fundamentally, of course, no one displaying Covod-a9 symptoms or required to self-isolate or quarantine should come to training.

We train as follows:

Minis – those at Primary School
train at the Barn Elms Sports Trust pitches on Saturday morning from 9:30am until 11am (with sone likely tweaks to times this season, to be advised).

Juniors & Colts – those at Secondary School, including the Girls section for U12+
train further down Queen Elizabeth Walk at the Barn Elms Sports Centre pitches on Sunday morning from 10am to 12pm.

Visit the Contact Us page for maps and instructions on how to find us.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership subscriptions for the full 2020/21 season, September to April, are £180 per player,  reduced to £150 per child where there is a second or third child in the family playing at Barnes.

These membership subs are reduced by 50% for players in the Under 5 and Under 6 age groups and also for female players, to encourage girls’ participation.

For prospective members, either those new to rugby or those who are keen to change club, we have a trial membership valid for 2 training sessions for you and your child to confirm that you are both keen to continue playing rugby at Barnes. Membership subs at the applicable rate will be due after the trial period has completed. It is essential that you complete our registration form BEFORE your child steps onto the pitch.

Membership Subs cover all rugby-related costs including pitch hire, rugby balls, tackle pads and other technical kit, entry fees to all tournaments (most clubs make an additional charge), external coaches, the Return 2 Play concussion monitoring service, and the hot dogs we offer after some training sessions. Membership Subs also entitle the member to a discount on club kit purchased from our kit shops and drinks purchased at the clubhouse bar.

For players who have exceptional financial or personal circumstances that may prevent them from playing rugby at Barnes, we have an Exceptional Circumstances Scheme to reduce or waive any membership subs due. Please contact Charles Roberts, the scheme administrator, if you would like to take advantage of the scheme. All queries regarding the Exceptional Circumstances Scheme are treated in the strictest of confidence
